The Barleycorn Clinic provides consultations and treatment virtually (tele-health) or within a discrete private clinic in West Sussex. Our team includes a GP advisor specialising in women's health, trauma specialist and a massage therapist, body worker and meditation/breath work teacher. 

Clinical Experience

Donna graduated in 1998 and her background spans over 20 years working in emergency departments, urgent care, trauma units and prehospital care in the NHS and overseas as a nurse practitioner/ prescriber. Her combined clinical educator roles in acute hospitals and in higher education institutions; include senior lecturer and pathway lead for MSc advanced practice, teaching clinical skills, advanced life/ trauma support, consultations, physical assessments, prescribing, medico-legal and research.

She qualified in medical aesthetics practice in 2012 including foundation and advanced neuromodulators toxin/dermal filler treatments and complications.

She has published numerous clinical academic papers in emergency care and research including in the aesthetics journal, and presented at various national and international conferences in her acute clinical career.

Academically she contributes to editorial advisory boards for international scientific journals highlighting research into best practice and offers an academic tutorial service. 


Donna’s background as a clinical practitioner and educator has laid the foundation for her knowledge and expertise in functional medicine. Having gone through her own personal health journey she understands the challenges involved, and so the last few years deep into functional medicine (FM) research and healing has led her to a career in functional medicine and a building a functional health practice.

Her dedication to science, biochemistry, healthcare and all of the new information coming to light behind root-cause of disease offers a comprehensive approach in treating clients.

Although she is passionate about health, she has many years of experience within medical aesthetics and values its place for those wanting to enhance their appearance. 

Her knowledge and skills in thorough clinical consultations, treatment plans, and follow up, ensure safe dedicated care.

And her empathy with personal experience bring warmth and trust to the client practitioner relationship.
